Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to make or build something?
No. You certainly can make or build something if you want. You can draw something too. You only need to be able to explain your idea, and how you used all of the resources. This challenge is about your imagination!
Do I have to use actual materials listed in the resources?
No. You only need to use your imagination. You do not need to go find any of these items. You can if you want to, but you only use your imagination and creativity to present you ideas. You can draw, write or showcase your idea in any way you want.
Does my idea need to be a car?
Nope. Not at all. In fact the most innovative ideas are going to be the ones that are not a car. You need to use your imagination and creativity to come up with a solution. Heck, we heard one student say they were going to sell the iPhone for money to use for their idea. Opps, did we just give away and great idea?
What is EcoMotive?
EcoMotive is the name of a team of college students, from The Netherlands. This team has designed and built the world's first solar-powered car made mostly from recycled and 3D printed parts. The car also cleans the air of harmful CO2 pollution as it drives. Here's a link to their story.
Who wins the prizes?
There will be one winner per school district of the grand prize: 3D Virtual Reality Googles for the most innovative idea. Additionally, all schools will get prizes for creative and innovative ideas.

The Challenge officially started September 9, 2022 and will end on September 25, 2020. That's not a lot of time so get thinking now!
Can we work as a team?
Yes for sure. We encourage you to work as a team. But if you want to work solo, on your own, you can do that too.
Whatever you imagine to get you to your destination, that 'thing' or 'idea' must be recycled, reused, remade, into something else after you get there. In other words, your 'thing' or 'idea' has an "afterlife." That's a fun new term you're going to hear more and more about: a product afterlife. In the future, everything will be recyclable and everything will have an afterlife. This concept is part of the Circular Economy. Click this box to find out what that means...
