READCamp is a three-month program for students in grades K-12 during their summer break. Students participate in training, drills and practice in order to maintain literacy skills. This reading challenge, led by “Head Coach” Malcolm Mitchell, is designed to encourage reading over the summer to avoid “the summer slide” learning gap. In READCamp 2020 we had 7,500 kids from 34 states join us for the summer. Our campers read over 20,000 books!
READMarathon is a friendly 26.2 day reading challenge focusing on reading stamina. This challenge was designed to improve reading stamina by introducing students to reading persistence and debunking the stone age stereotype that reading is boring, in return giving kids the opportunity to enrich their lives with the benefits of reading in a fun environment. READMarathon 2021 starts on October 12.
READBowl 2021 is in the Books! Congratulations to every child, every parent and educator who came together – in a very challenging year – to send 71,000 kids onto the field and set a new record of 55 million reading minutes.
