About

When the Wind Paints the Sky invites students to explore the hidden forces that shape what we see above us. Through a blend of science and art, students investigate how light, particles, wind, and atmosphere interact to create color—then apply their understanding through creative expression, transforming observation into intentional design.

What Color is the Sky?

The sky changes color because sunlight hits tiny particles in the air—and the air is always changing. We call that a "particle party."

Wind as Invisible Artist

Students learn how wind and conditions can affect sky color. Students understand how wind and conditions change the sky. What’s in the air? How is wind affecting it? What colors will show?

Design a Sky

Each student chooses a sky condition: Calm, clear day, Dusty windstorm, After rain, Smoky sunset, Fantasy sky (push creativity) then creates artwork to showcase their sky color!
